South African Stocks to Invest In and how to do it by yourself!

Hey Guys!

I haven't blogged in years, but i am always up to things in life to get more out of life and continue to change interests.

I have been looking at investing more and more as i am now out of my twenties and the whirlwind of unstable saving due to uncertainty and erratic wants are over.

I now feel the natural progression of money, meaning if you make a load of money you also have a higher propensity to lose a lot of money. Saving and investing is best used in a low and slow style as this way causes sustainable growth and no tapping into the saving and investments.

I would like to mention a website called easyequities.co.za i created an account here by my friends advise and its been pretty cool. You can buy and sell your shares at any time and its immediate, so if you feel share prices are going up for a certain company you can buy shares in that company and make some money on your money in an instant. Pretty cool!

The stocks i am really interested in for now are Capitec Bank and Anglo Platinum. These are bringing in nice profits and Capitec's history or timeline of share price gains are pretty solid. Anglo Platinum again had the highest return for 2018 which was a return of 50%. If you had 100 000 rand invested you would have made 50 000 on that one last year. For doing nothing....

Also one thing to mention, if you are not comfortable with buying shares as shares do fluctuate and you can lose money, the savings accounts from Capitec are also pretty cool and the money you put in is guaranteed as its a savings account. if you have a 20 000 and add it to a Capitec account as the initial savings amount and continue to add 5000 rand per month you will make 480 interest per month if you fix the account for 24 months. Those returns are really nice, and if you have 15 000 rand in the account and add 750 per month you will make about 140 per month also a good amount in interest.

Pretty cool huh?

Anyways i'll leave you guys and will update this topic as things happen on my side.

Investing and Saving, Innovative Idea

Saving and investing

Invest in Kruger Rands

As you all know, it is a great and almost imperative idea to have a savings account, whether it be for a rainy day, for retirement, for that sports car or for that holiday overseas. With a normal savings account you can have a debit order run into that account monthly and the savings account will get thicker and thicker, the smile on your face will get wider and wider as the money increases, you'll probably get bank statements mailed or emailed to you where you can see your progress and at first when you see the interest you are receiving just by saving money you might get excited, be it the interest is very low. Once this feeling wears off, you'll probably start thinking of ways to get more interest on your money, in this case start looking at other banks maybe at interest rates for the different account types they have etc.

And then there is another way to get your savings and interest on an even higher level with little or no extra work. With a basic savings account you probably get like 2% interest back based on how much you already have in the account, this interest rate is roofed at like 3.5%. This is very mediocre as inflation iat like 8% per year and you not actually saving anything, so the
savings account is not actually making you money on your money or even keeping its value, especially with the global economy we are plagued with these days. Wars etc.

You can take your savings if you have enough and buy Kruger rand coins, the interest per year on these is at like 12% minimum and over the long haul you will definitely make your money, this is simple and easy because you can buy a coin, leave it in your cupboard at home (not advisable :) and the price will just increase. The reason for this, is because there are markets out there working hard everyday dealing with gold prices and Gold coin prices, these people push for the price of these coins to go higher and people trade with these coins to store the value of their moneys, this is a great store of value because you end up getting more money out than what you put in and the longer you hold the coin the more return you get, this is with no trader handling your gold so there is no risk.

Here is an idea of how Kruger Rands or Gold coins Appreciate in value.

This graph shows the appreciation of standard gold coins which can be found in any country, also a great benefit of having a gold coin is that if we were to have a "zombie apocalypse" and the banks are all closed, currency in no longer valid (slightly possible these days) you can carry the coin around your neck on a string and no matter which country you end up in, you can use it as currency, you can go to a normal Gold pawn shop, they will weigh it and give your money for the weight. Nice one hey.

1 OZ Fine Gold

Also note that last year 2012 was the year where the most Gold was bought by Governments. As security against currency losing its value, so this is a legitimate idea for everyone. This action by Governments really confused equity analysts and stock brokers as gold is not so good to trade back and fourth, but the governments of the world know exactly what they are doing. For example Iran is under sanctions so their money is worth very little if they had bought Gold at the right time they would have been fine and guarded against their Currency Dropping so much. Even if the people of Iran bought gold they would be saved as the Gold price is linked to the major currencies in the world, you would have gotten a huge amount of Iranian Rial for a gold coin at this point. So Gold is a sure thing, the value of it is Guaranteed.

If you do buy gold coins you get different sizes to suit your budget. They start at 1/10 oz, then to 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz and a whole 1 oz. It is recommended to get a whole ounce.

Another thing is that if you are not in the states you can wait for the dollar to decrease against your currency and get the Kruger Rands cheaper.

If you would like to Buy any coins go to: www.sagoldcoin.co.za or go to www.randrefinery.com where they keep the coins for you and you can sell it back to them
which makes it much more liquid.

Also check out the Mandela coins as these are going to be really expensive one day soon.

Find your family crest/s...

Find your Family Crests...

Finding your family crest.

I was wondering the other night where does my family come from? So from my mom side my elders come from Holland with the surname DeHaan. So I Googled the surname and came up with a really cool family crest. Seen below.

A great site to go to, to see your own family crests, would be "www.houseofnames.com". It would be unlikely that you do not have a family crest as we all come from somewhere, so go ahead and have a look. Here you can see the history of your family, where they came from and what they stood for. Almost like noblemen with a cause. This is really cool as you can see what prided your four fathers. Each symbol has a meaning the background pattern on the shield and colours.
For example, the colour Green would mean "Hope, joy, and loyalty in love". "Gold would mean Generosity and elevation of the mind". A cock symbol as seen above, meant "Courage and perseverance; hero; able man in politics". There are a huge amount of symbols each with their own unique meaning, who would have thought an acorn meant "Antiquity and strength".

Once I have my family crest I'm thinking of making a gold signet ring with the crest on the front, maybe add my initials somewhere as well. This is a nice reminder of what your ancients stood for and adds character when wearing the ring and is a fashionable man ring (if you're into that). Wearing Gold stood for royalty back in the day so you never go wrong with it on your person.
See some nice examples below:

Another awesome thing is you can pass the ring down to someone in your family one day. Similar to a lot of French people these days who wear their grandparents silver signet rings when travelling abroad, this usually has their grandparents initials on it. Typical French style...

We all should have two family crests, one from your moms side and one from your dads, you can choose which family to represent. Mostly people will use their fathers but if you prefer to use your mom's that's also fine. I will use my mom's because I have my grandfather's genes on her side.
My other family crest is The Matthews crest which apparently comes from Ireland and Wales. Interesting considering the fact that my family has been in Cape Town South Africa for 350 years if not more.

I have a good Jeweler here in the Cape Town CBD named Pol Art. I can take my crests there and sit down to discuss making the gold ring. They are really professional and have lots of experience. And they are really friendly Polish folk. Ill be using 9ct gold and have a full ring, no hollow areas so that the ring feels more solid. And hopefully pass it on to someone one day.

Some cool signet rings.
